Owned and operated by Bertus and Elene Gerhardt, this company was officially established in 2000; however, Bertus has been hunting the high Bushveld since he was a small boy. Bertus who grew up in the South African Bushveld adapted naturally to his career as a hunting guide. He took out his first local client when he was only 7 years old and acquired a lot of his skills from the natives while hearding sheep with them. He is fluent in several native languages. During his school years he tagged along with a very well known professional hunter in our area that had the privilege of taking out clients like C.J. McElroy. He has a very intense passion for hunting and his tracking skills are second to none.

We have had the privilege to host over 600 hunters during the past decade, with some exceptional trophies taken; numerous specimens that qualify for entry into the SCI record books. To all our friends who have supported us, we would like to thank you for making this ten years so very memorable. We have shared some extraordinary experiences with you. From exciting hunts with exhausting stalks, to passing long days in a blind. We have been privileged to not only hunt but to observe many of the earth's most amazing animals, everything from the iridescent beauty of the lilac breasted roller to massive elephant marauding hippos in the river.

We have laughed at crazy baboons and have had some close encounters with Africa's wildlife; and we have the scars to prove it! We have had our lodge survive two floods and have endured droughts. There have been brilliant sunrises and unforgettable sunsets, unexpected thunder storms that lit up the African skies with deafening thunder, and even a meteorite that shook the lodge as it struck the ground nearby!!

The simple Swahili word, safari means "journey" or "to travel". This has been an incredible journey, and we can only hope that the next ten years will be as exciting and as memorable.
